The government now says it has conclusively resolved the challenge of backlog of passports. Interior CS Kithure Kindiki who visited Nyayo house Monday afternoon said the immigration department had received and commissioned 2 new printing machines that will end the backlog. He said the backlog of pending applications that stood at 724,000 by last month has been addressed. The machines are said to have a capacity to print up to 300 passports an hour against a daily demand of 5000 passports. The CS said starting may, it will take 21 days to process all passport applications.
