UASU threatens strike over leadership crisis at UoN

The University’s Academic Staff Union at the University of Nairobi has threatened to take drastic action, including a possible strike, over the institution’s prolonged leadership crisis. The union is demanding the immediate appointment of a substantive Vice-Chancellor and Deputy Vice-Chancellors, warning that continued delays risk deepening instability and undermining effective governance at the university. UASU further decried the institution’s mounting financial burden, citing debts estimated at KSh 15.9 billion, which it says have pushed the university into steady decline and disrupted core operations.
