Uganda elections 2026

Former Nigerian president Goodluck Jonathan who led the au observers in the just concluded Uganda elections say the elections were largely peaceful with no cases of election malpractice. According to African union observers together with regional bodies COMESA and IGAD, there was no evidence of ballot stuffing in Uganda’s presidential election. The observers condemned reports of intimidation, arrests and abductions targeting opposition members and civil society. According to the mission, such actions instilled fear and eroded public trust in the electoral process raising questions about the overall fairness of the just concluded elections.
