Kanda ya video kwenye mtandao wa kijamii iliyothibitishwa na Reuters Jumatatu (Februari 10) iliwaonyesha watu wakiwa na mavazi ya kiraia wakiingizwa kwenye Jela Kuu huko Bukavu. Mtazamaji katika kanda hiyo ya video aliwashutumu kuwa ni wanachama wa kikundi cha Cheetahs, kitengo cha jeshi la Congo, akisema “wanavuruga amani yetu.” Kuhusishwa kwa wafungwa katika video hiyo haukuweza kuthibitishwa na vyanzo huru. Reuters imethibitisha eneo hilo ni Bukavu kwa kulinganisha kuta za jela hiyo, lango kuu, miti yenye kuizunguka na milima na picha za satellite za eneo hilo. Wakati tarehe hasa ya kutolewa kanda hiyo ya video haikuweza kuthibitishwa na vyanzo huru, ilikuwa imepakuliwa kabla ya Jumatatu siku ya kesi. Chanzo cha jumuiya ya kiraia huko Kavumu, mji ulioko kilomita 35 kaskazini mwa Bukavu, ameiambia Reuters kuwa wanajeshi waliokimbia waliwauwa watu 10, wakiwemo saba kati yao waliokuwa wameketi baa Ijumaa jioni. Ofisi ya mwendesha mahtaka ya jeshi ilisema wanajeshi hao wanakabiliwa na mashtaka ya kukimbia kutoka mstari wa mbele baada ya waasi wa M23 kuuteka mji wa Nyabibwe, ulioko kilomita 70 kaskazini mwa Bukavu.
