The government, through the uwezo fund oversight board, has disbursed over eight billion shillings since the fund was established in 2014 to empower youths and persons with disabilities. However, loan repayment remains a concern, with only ksh 2.3 billion returned out of the 8.13 billion disbursed. The government has established an intensified recovery campaign to pursue defaulters.
