Nigeria Election 2027: 'Opposition in talks for possible alliance'- Atiku - BBC Africa

Former Nigerian Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, who is running for president in 2027 under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has told the BBC that opposition parties are working towards a possible alliance ahead of the election. In an interview with the BBC’s Madina Maishanu, Mr Atiku rejected suggestions that the opposition’s failure to unite so far reflects divisions, saying it was part of a strategy. A proposed alliance between Mr Atiku and Peter Obi had broken down, raising questions about whether the opposition can agree on a single candidate capable of mounting a strong challenge to President Bola Tinubu, who is seeking a second term.
