The Ministry of Education is on the spot over the whereabouts of 903 million shillings of capitation funds allocated to schools between the years 2020 – 2024, which were never disbursed. A special audit by the auditor general also uncovered irregularities in the allocation of funds, with some school heads inflating the number of learners to draw extra funds. The revelation comes amidst concerns over underfunding of public schools, capitation deficits, and delays in disbursements of the funds crucial for sustaining school operations.
