Binaifer Nowrojee has called upon judicial officers to maintain judicial independence and accountability in delivering justice to Kenyans. Binaifer spoke during the 2025 Chunilal Bhagwandas Madan Awards and memorial lecture at the Strathmore University Law School.
The Madan Awards are in memory of Kenya's Chief justice Chunilal Madan QC who served between 1985–1986, considered by many as one of Kenya's best Chief Justices. This years memorial lecture was in memory of senior counsel Pheroze Nowrojee as a renowned lawyer, human rights defender and writer known for his powerful advocacy and contributions to justice and democracy in Kenya. Pheroze passed on in April 2025 aged 84. This year's C.B Madan prize awardee is Justice Chacha Mwita.
