The just concluded Law Society of Kenya elections supervised by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission is now the subject of a legal battle with lawyers divided on the validity of the electoral body supervising the poll. In what is likely to degenerate into a legal contest, Lawyer Ndegwa Njiru says he will challenge the poll process arguing IEBC lacks the legal mandate to oversee any poll as it is not fully constituted. However, those in support of the poll process have dismissed his argument saying LSK as a private entity is at liberty to procure the services of any organization to oversee the poll. As Abdiaziz Hashim now tells us a similar case is pending before the high court and will be heard on the 12th of March 2024.
