A humanitarian crisis is deepening in Baringo North and South as the relentless rise of Lakes Baringo and Bogoria continues to engulf schools, homes and critical infrastructure, disrupting livelihoods and threatening the education of hundreds of learners. The government, through Education Principal Secretary Prof. Julius Bitok, has raised alarm over the worsening situation, with at least eleven schools now at risk of closure as floodwaters advance toward learning institutions. And as Chrispine Otieno reports, residents are grappling not only with displacement and interrupted learning, but also with an escalating threat from wild animals and the risk of disease outbreaks.
