25 years ago, a group of senior Eritrean politicians known as the G-15 called for democratic reform. Eleven were arrested and accused of treason. They have never been put on trial, and their families still do not know where they are. Human rights groups, including the UN, consider the G-15, prisoners of conscience and have been calling for their release. Among the detained was former defence and foreign minister, Petros Solomon. Two years later, his wife, Asther Yohannes, was also arrested. Focus on Africa host, Nkechi Ogbonna, has been speaking to their daughter, Hanna Petros Solomon about her search for her parents, and UN Special Rapporteur on human rights in Eritrea, Dr Mohamed Abdelsalam Babiker about the fate of those detained. 00:00-00:50 Coming up 00:50-02:15 Meeting Hanna 02:15-03:00 The last time Hanna saw her parents 03:00-04:15 What were her parents like? 04:15-05:20 Does Hanna have memories on video? 05:20-07:15 Growing up without her parents 07:15-09:05 What is the human rights situation in Eritrea? 09:05-09:50 Why were her parents detained? 09:45-12:00 Coping with the first year after their absence 12:00-14:40 What has the Eritrean government said? 14:40-18:20 How Hanna left Eritrea 18:20-19:10 Building a life in the US 19:10-21:00 Conditions in Eritrea's prisons 21:00-22:00 How are Hanna's siblings? 22:00-24:00 What Hanna would say to her parents if she saw them again Subscribe: http://bit.ly/subscribetoafrica Website: https://www.bbc.com/africa Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/bbcnewsafrica/ Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/bbcafrica/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/bbcafrica/ Presenter: Nkechi Ogbonna Producers: Fana Negash and Carolyne Kiambo Senior Producers: Priyanka Sippy Editors: Daniel Dadzie and Maryam Abdalla
