The Federation of Women Lawyers in Kenya FIDA has called on the Ministry of Health to adopt a rights based approach in health administration. Speaking in Nairobi the rights group said transition from the National Health Insurance Fund NHIF to Social Health Insurance Fund SHIF has exposed glaring systemic gaps which have negatively affected access to equitable and affordable care for many Kenyans. And as Timothy Kipnusu reports the lobby group want the transition to SHIF to align with the principles of Universal Health Coverage , reducing financial barriers, ensure adequate resources and protecting the rights of the most vulnerable in the community.
