A total of 111 Kenyans died at the hands of the police in 2021 according to a report by the Network of African National Human Rights Institutions on the use of lethal force by police in Kenya. 80 are said to have been shot dead, while 19 were killed through other means other than firearms. The report compiled by four human rights institutions including Independent Policing Oversight Authority indicates that 121 Kenyans sustained injuries that can be attributed to police action.
