A police officer from Awendo sub-county was fatally stabbed while attempting to arrest a murder suspect in North Sakwa Ward, Migori County. Confirming the incident, Awendo sub-county Police Commander Julius Kemboi said the officer was part of a team sent after intelligence indicated the suspect had returned from hiding. During the operation, the suspect attacked the officers and inflicted a stab wound that later proved fatal. The Police Commander has also confirmed that the attacker did not manage to escape but was met with the wrath of the public and was also pronounced dead on arrival at a hospital. The slain officer’s body has been taken to the Rosewood Hospital mortuary.
