The U.S. Embassy in Kenya has maintained that there are currently no Americans exposed to Ebola who require transfer to Kenya. U.S. officials say the proposed facility in Laikipia County is meant to enhance the country's preparedness and capacity to respond to future disease outbreaks. They further clarified that the planned facility is not connected to the Kenya–U.S. health framework agreement signed last December, nor to any previous health partnership between the two countries. The future of the controversial facility now rests in the hands of the Kenyan government after its establishment was halted by a court order.
